Refugee and Immigrant-Owned Business Coupon Book Spotlight: Part 6

This holiday season, Cleveland is preparing to welcome the highest number of refugees since the Clinton Administration. During this time, US Together is excited to do our part in helping our new friends integrate into their new Cleveland communities. US Together will be assisting 450 refugees and 150 Afghan Paroles in their resettlement process over the next year alone.

To support this tremendous cause, US Together is running the Second-Annual Refugee and Immigrant Owned Business Coupon Book. With a donation of $25 or more, you will receive your copy, and there is no limit on how many you can receive. This week we are excited to introduce three businesses featured in this year’s book, Mariia K Moments, Busy Hands Cleaners, and Accessories by Malati.

Mariia K Moments

Mariia K Moments is owned and operated by Mariia Kharevych, a refugee from Ukraine. She came to the United States in 2018 with her husband and four girls. When Mariia was a child, she was always painting. This passion drove her to continue painting in adulthood and to start selling her artwork.

She has been selling her paintings for about 12 years now and she loves painting on a variety of materials including paper and glass. She enjoys painting scenery as well as people, especially kids. Mariia has been selling her painted glasswork here in the Cleveland area now for about 2 years, and she has participated in many markets throughout the greater Cleveland area. She even did a painting class for staff and clients at US Together!

Accessories by Malati

Accessories by Malati is run by Malati Tamang, a refugee from Nepal. She came to Cleveland in 2015 with her two sisters, father and mother. Her youngest sister was born in Cleveland.

She learned how to sew through a program at Esperanza Threads. She started her own small business after this program because she enjoys sewing and wants to share her products with her community here in Cleveland. After she made a purse for her sister, she saw how happy this made her. She wants to make items for others to also bring them this joy.

She likes to use lots of different patterns, but she especially loves floral patterns. She makes a number of accessories including scrunchies, headbands, masks, wallets, and small bags as well as aprons and purses.
