Culturally Conscious Tourism Abroad

US Together's Global Perspectives Program consists of customized trips abroad that offer participants a unique opportunity to combine volunteer work with culturally conscious tourism. Participants travel to foreign countries and explore iconic destinations while also making an impact through local community engagement. All our Global Perspectives participants have the opportunity to affect positive change through volunteering and partnering with local organizations in the countries they visit. These trips also promote intercultural exchange through personal connections in the countries visited. These international connections can bloom into unexpected partnerships and lead to new and lasting relationships.  Although we realize that the time spent helping these communities is limited, we are certain that interactions with local people positively impact the way that both parties perceive each other and serve as a tool for cultural diplomacy. Thanks to our local partners, we offer much more authentic experiences than travelers would receive from a typical tour, allowing U.S. residents to experience other cultures and expand their outlook on the world.

2018 - Greece

In October 2018, US Together brought a group to Greece. They spent the first part of the trip in Athens, where participants explored the city, visited museums, and toured historical sites. From the lodging site, the famous Acropolis was within view. Volunteering officially began October 12th, during which participants engaged with local refugees and began comprehensive volunteering projects within the community. The final portion of the trip was spent on the island of Crete. It included relaxing on beaches, visiting archaeological sites, and exploring ancient towns. The entire program was coordinated by US Together and in-country guides.
