Our Partner: Team Rubicon!

Resettlement agencies around the country rely heavily not only on the funds provided by the government, but also on their supportive community to meet the needs of refugees and others. US Together is no different, especially during the most recent humanitarian crises like in Afghanistan and Ukraine. Back in April, our offices had the pleasure of partnering with Team Rubicon to help move in Afghan parolees.

Team Rubicon makes a huge difference through their work in the community.

Team Rubicon is a “veteran-led humanitarian organization that serves global communities before, during, and after disasters and crises.” According to their website, Team Rubicon started in 2010 after the humanitarian crises in Haiti that were a direct result of a 7.0 magnitude earthquake in the country's capital. As larger organizations were slow to respond to the hundreds of thousands of people who were injured, two Marines rounded up other veterans, medical professionals, and first responders to board a plane and take matters into their own hands. It’s from this initial operation that the organization grew into what Team Rubicon is today.

The team of volunteers helped with donation pickups and drop-offs, assembled set-up items, and arranged furniture provided by the Furniture Bank of Central Ohio. Their help two to three days a week eased the process of moving in our Afghan clients by taking the physical labor off of the shoulders of our staff and the clients themselves. Especially with utilizing Team Rubicon’s box truck, single clients without much support were able to have their large furniture moved seamlessly, which is usually an expense for them.

Partnerships like the one built with Team Rubicon is how our agency is able to go above and beyond for our clients. We want them to experience people who support them and who will go the extra mile to make sure they are well settled here in Ohio.

Team Rubicon helps US Together go above and beyond to serve our newest neighbors!
