ESL Coordinator (Toledo):

US Together, Inc. seeks applicants for an ESL Coordinator position to work in the Toledo, Ohio area.

Job Description and Job Duties
Implements English as a Second Language (ESL) activities and instruction to help adult ESL students reach competence in English reading, speaking, listening, writing, and advanced comprehension and fluency; teaches English writing and other academic skills and college planning to increase students’ success in higher education; applies research-based instructional practices, such as peer-supported instruction and learning; demonstrates ability to communicate effectively, in writing, speaking, and presenting information to both large and small groups; regularly performs needs analyses to identify students’ needs, objectives, and short and long-term goals for learning English; keeps track of students’ attendance and progress; demonstrates knowledge in developing course syllabi, grading rubrics and curriculum standards, adult learning theories, use of technology in classroom instruction, and different English language proficiency tests; provides students with adequate professional training for future employment and develops skills necessary for the US job market; develops work-related curricula to help students transfer skills to the workplace; actively engages in adult ESL literacy research; conducts and participates in research opportunities to stay up to date with the latest in the field of adult ESL literacy; regularly participates in professional development activities to enhance knowledge and skills in the field of adult ESL literacy; designs and develops ESL assignments and interactive classroom environments; and works with students with international degrees and credentials to navigate the US assessment and evaluation process.

Special Requirements
Must have master’s degree in English or Education and three (3) months of experience in the job offered or as an assistant. In addition, three (3) months of total experience must have included all of the following:
1) Designing ESL assignments;
2) Teaching English writing skills; and
3) Developing course syllabi.
