Family Strengthening

Committed to school success, the Family Strengthening program assists refugees with their education needs. Assisting with school and child care enrollment, program staff also connects families with resources and services that promote family wellness. Parents participating in the program receive additional support  and guidance to understand and navigate the American School System.

The goal of the program is to eliminate the reticence of refugee parents to become involved with schools and to address two significant family-based educational barriers for refugees: communication with schools and role reversal between parents and the children. The program promotes active parents involvement in their children’s lives and partnership with schools to support children’s education, a recognized indicator for school success and graduation.
