Sophomore Service Experience at UST Cleveland
Cleveland saw a busy month of community engagement! On December 11th, the Cleveland office hosted approximately 20 students from Cleveland Central Catholic High School for their Sophomore Service Experience, an immersive experience in which students are educated on social justice issues that affect their local communities. The goal of the initiative is for students to meet individuals that intentionally and successfully live out a life of service and justice. For their visit, the students were presented with a brief overview of our organization and refugee resettlement before their service activity. This activity helped the students develop a framework of gratitude for their communities’ support networks after learning about the struggles that refugees face before and after they enter the United States. For their service activity, the students wrapped presents for sixteen refugee clients and their families. For most of these families, this first holiday season in the United States was a resounding success!
