If you are interested in purchasing a coupon book, you can go to our donation page, donate $25 or more, and we will send you a book with some great deals to amazing businesses in Cleveland! Habesha, opening December 4th at West Park Kamm’s Neighborhood, was founded by Jamal Musa, his wife Tigist Gebremichael, and friend and partner Hiriyti Weldeslasie, refugees from Ethiopia and Eritrea. The founders of Habesha have gone through US Together’s Microenterprise Development Program (MED), a program designed to help refugee and immigrant entrepreneurs start their own businesses.
Habesha serves authentic Ethiopian and Eritrean cuisine, including an array of vegetarian, vegan, and meat dishes. Some of the food you can find on Habesha’s menu includes Sambuusa, pastry triangles filled with lentils or beef; Ambesha, traditional flatbread served with cottage cheese; and a breakfast dish called Chechebsa. For vegetarian dishes, you can find an assortment of dishes with vegetables such as collard greens, cabbage, beans, carrots, onion and more; and meat entrée are made with chicken or beef prepared as a stew. You can also participate in a tradition coffee ceremony at the restaurant, where friends gather to enjoy cups of Ethiopian coffee together. The limits of new foods to try at Habesha are endless. You can find a cooking demo from the chef at this link!
There are currently two other Ethiopian restaurants in Cleveland, but Habesha will be the first on the West side! There is so much to experience and enjoy when you eat at Habesha, and we are very excited for everyone in Cleveland to visit soon.
