Supporting Clients During this Uncertain Time

 

This week we want to highlight one of our case managers, Dilli Bastola. From the start of COVID-19, Dilli has worked hard to educate his clients about prevention, symptoms, and coping mechanisms. From home, Dilli calls his clients daily to check in on their health and financial status. He has been working with landlords to coordinate rent payments; however, the majority of his clients are facing severe financial burdens as a result of the pandemic. According to Dilli: “clients are concerned about the virus, but primarily focused on feeding their kids and paying rent.” Amidst increasing unemployment, Dilli is grateful that all of his clients are eligible for food stamps and medicaid. He still drives them to their necessary appointments and teaches them how to social distance. “Unfortunately, technology is still a massive barrier. Most clients have cell phones, but paying for data can become costly.” Dilli hopes to receive donations to help pay his clients’ bills. 

As Dilli explained, our clients are facing a multitude of challenges each day. Many of them have lost loved ones and cannot afford to pay for a proper burial. Some have lost their jobs and are facing the burden of unemployment.
