Staff Spotlight: Sunday
A year and a half ago, Sunday, one of our new case managers, moved to the United States from Rwanda. He is a friendly and hardworking addition to our team, and now we cannot imagine our office without him! He is fluent in English, Kinyarwanda, Kirundi, French, and has an intermediate understanding of Swahili and Luganda.
In his home country, he attended the University of Rwanda in Kigali and received his degree in business administration. Prior to joining the team at US Together, Sunday was remotely working on his non-profit organization, Bridge of Hope Rwanda.
As someone who deeply cares about human rights, social justice, and post conflict resolution processes, Sunday found a role that speaks to all of these passions. His own history motivates him to continue working as a public servant. Throughout his professional career, he has learned to speak for those who are often not properly heard. Being able to advocate for his clients and ensure they are adjusting to their new home in the United States is deeply rewarding to him.
When asked about who inspires him, the first person to come to mind was his mother. Unfortunately, his family lost their father when him and his siblings were still young. Despite not having the opportunity to attend school herself, his mother ensured that all five of her children were educated.
Spending time with his family is his favorite way to spend his time outside of work. He enjoys watching movies with his wife, and a funny fact he shared is that many of the movies he loves watching, she saw when she was 13. He also greatly enjoys travelling. Outside of the United States, he likes travelling to Rwanda and Northlands.
