Announcing Our Virtual Auction: Baskets From Around the World!
It’s almost time for US Together’s virtual auction, Baskets from Around the World! Starting April 11th and running through April 25th, you’ll have the chance to bid on gift baskets featuring a variety of international snacks and goodies from different areas of the world. There will be six baskets to bid on, including an Asian basket, Central American basket, Middle Eastern basket, Eastern European basket, African/Caribbean basket, and a Ukrainian basket. Bids will start at $50 and all funds raised will help US Together continue to resettle refugees in our community.
First is the Asian Basket, which includes over 15 items from numerous Asian countries, including Nepal, Japan, and Korea. Items were sourced from local Asian markets in Toledo and Cleveland, including Lee’s Market (Toledo), Asian Grocery (Toledo), Tink Holl (Cleveland), and Accessories by Malati (US Together MED member). Some items found in this basket include strawberry Calpico drink, grape bubblegum, and tomato Lays.
Second is the Central American Basket. This basket is full of sweet and salty snacks, candy, and drinks from several Central American countries, including Mexico, El Salvador, and Guatemala. Items were sourced from La Plaza in Cleveland, a local market. A few items included in this basket are lime Jarritos soda, De La Rosa marzipan candy, and crunchy BBQ cornbits.
Next is the Middle Eastern Basket, a flavorful basket full of cookies, tea, chips, and soda. Items are imported from a variety of countries, including Turkey, Syria, and Egypt. These products were sourced from community markets in Toledo and Cleveland, including Holyland Imported Foods (Cleveland), Syrian Soul Bracelets (US Together MED member), Sabir’s Gemstones (US Together MED member), and Al-Nur Market and Grill (Toledo).
The Eastern European Basket is perfect for anyone with a sweet tooth! This basket includes mostly sweet snacks, including many different types of chocolate, cookies, hard fruit candies, and sparkling lemonade. Items were sourced from local Eastern European markets, specifically Yelesevsky Deli in Cleveland. Snacks are imported from a variety of different nations, including Ukraine, Russia, and Poland.
Next is the African/Caribbean Basket, a spicy basket packed with hot sauce, flavored peanuts, cheese snacks, and more! Items for this basket were obtained from local markets in Toledo and Cleveland, including Yarlu African Market (Toledo), Kaba African & Caribbean Market (Cleveland), and US Together MED small business – Fashion by Ramazani. These items were imported from a number of countries, including Ghana, Cameroon, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
Last is the Ukrainian Basket, another sweet basket brimming with cookies, tea, fruit juice, and chocolate candies. These products were obtained from a local market in Parma, Ohio called Lviv International Food Store.
