Hard-To-Count Communities #Census2020
Once a decade, we come together to count every resident in the United States. The Census counts our population and households, providing the basis for fair representation, redistricting, and distributing federal funds. However, there are hard-to-count (HTC) communities. What are these hard-to-count communities, and how do we reach them?
HTC:
1. Racial and ethnic communities
2. Linguistic minorities
3. Lower income persons
4. Homeless persons
5. Undocumented immigrants
6. Young mobile persons
7. Children
How to reach these communities:
- Dispelling myths and allaying fears about the use of data
- Eliminating language barriers through interpretation and access to translation services
- Promotion through trusted sources, such as local libraries and non-profits.
Together, we can make sure everyone is counted! #YouMatter #BeCounted #Census2020
