Volunteer Spotlight: Keith and Ann
Having spent significant time abroad seeking new viewpoints about the world and its people, Keith and Ann are two US Together volunteers that go above and beyond to help refugees and immigrants feel at home in Toledo. While they have been volunteering with US Together for over two years, this pair has been serving the international community for at least 15 years. Different perspectives and friendships are what attract Keith and Ann to serving the refugee community.
Over the past two years, Keith and Ann have volunteered by running ESL and parenting classes. However, their favorite service happens informally. They love to invite clients of US Together over to their home for dinner, drive them around the Toledo area to get more comfortable with the area, and connect them to resources. “It doesn’t take hard skills, just a heart and an open mind to help others” said Ann. These two incredible people simply want to welcome refugees and new Americans to their new home.
Keith and Ann are quick to note that for all that they give, just as much love and grace is given to them by the refugee families they work with. Through these and other experiences, their passion for the refugee community has grown, and Keith and Ann hope that US Together can continue serving refugees for many years, welcoming vulnerable people from all over the world, and caring for all. Thank you, Keith and Ann, for all you do to help our refugee families!
